Meet the Portland West Office

More than 90% of seniors want to age in their own home with dignity but getting the right type of care can seem daunting. At Senior Helpers Portland West we believe that getting the best care for your loved ones should not be complicated. Kelli Bradley opened the Senior Helpers Portland West office in 2007 because of her passion for helping others and her interest in the growing need for in-home care services. Our new owner, Lance Hansen is committed to delivering the best possible in-home care to seniors in the Portland West community.

We take the opportunity to provide in-home care seriously and make it a priority to provide the highest level of client service possible. Over the past twelve years we have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs.

Our History

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies. They realized most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution. Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited. Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and affordable in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand. Over the past 13 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers Portland West was proud to join the system in 2007. Like every other owner, we too are fully committed to the original goal of providing dependable and affordable in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.

Lance Hansen was drawn to Senior Helpers because of his compassion to be involved in a business that is about helping others.

Our team has grown to six team members and 53 caregivers. We have been lucky to serve hundreds of seniors in our community over the years, and we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.

Our process

Our process

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with a Senior Helpers consultant. This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one and your options. Together we can discuss their needs, review our senior care services and determine what’s best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  •  Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

Meet the Portland West Team

Lance Hansen

Lance Hansen

Owner

Our owner Lance was born and raised in Oregon and has lived in the Pacific Northwest for most of his life. After spending the last 20 years working in the corporate world for other people, he decided it was time to find a meaningful business that he could operate himself. Recently his experience with his grandmother and a next-door neighbor helped lead him to the in-home care industry Lance is very excited to be involved in a business that is all about helping others. When Lance is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three adult children, along with getting in as much golf as he can.

Gerry O’Brien

Gerry O’Brien

Registered Nurse BSN

Gerry has over 40 years in the nursing field, including over 10 years at Stanford University, where she spent her time in the neurology unit. There she worked as a nurse case-manager, where Gerry assisted with the discharge planning at the University. In total, she has over 20 years of experience as a nurse manager in both home health and hospice care, allowing her to both understand and assist in both realms of care. Gerry believes very strongly in having family members cared for in their homes, if possible, as she believes that in their home environment they will flourish more than they would if they would be placed in a foreign area, even if it is just down the block, Gerry understands the impact that it has on them. She also cares for her husband, who is homebound and is uniquely situated to understand the issues and frustrations as well as the rewards that come with caring for a family member. Overall, Gerry brings so much to the table and is such a wonderful addition to the team!

Sarina Pasomsouk

Sarina Pasomsouk

Office Administrator

Sarina has been in this industry for over five years now, starting back when she got her degree in Healthcare Administration from the PIMA Medical Institution. Having to care for her father when he was unable to take care of himself was what inspired Sarina to move into the home care field. This experience also helped her gain insight into the needs and special requirements of individuals for their loved ones and to not only give the families hope for quality of life, but also allow for the clients to remain independent and enjoy the comfort and security of being in their own home. As a former caregiver herself, Sarina has also been able to adapt to not only understanding the client needs but the needs of the caregivers as well, allowing for her insight from both spectrums to create a healthy balance of the two. When Sarina is not busy at the office, she enjoys spending time at the coast, cooking with her family, going on walks with her dog, and re-reading her favorite books. Something that not very many people know about Sarina is that she is actually a hot sauce connoisseur and even makes her very own hot sauces, just going to show that she puts her heart and passion into everything she does, from the workplace to the kitchen, Sarina does it all.

Kathy Lucas

Kathy Lucas

Billing & Finance

Kathy has been on the Senior Helpers team for seven years now, as she had previously retired but felt a lack of purpose in life, and joining our staff helped fill that void. When Kathy joined, she instantly felt inspired by the passion of the office and made it her mission to provide the very best services to her clients. Her primary duties in the office are the management of bookkeeping and financial records so that the rest of the office can remain focused on client care. When Kathy is not working in the office, she enjoys watching the Portland Timbers play, reading, and spending time with her granddaughters.

Konrad Bruszczak

Konrad Bruszczak

Community Resource Coordinator

Konrad joined our team as the Office Coordinator at the start of 2020, bringing a fun and positive attitude to the office. He is currently finishing his senior year at Portland State University, where he is going for his Bachelors in Business Administration, with plans to go for his MBA soon after. Konrad oversees the interviewing of potential caregivers, managing those who are already on board, helping coordinate around the office, and being the overall link between the caregivers and that of the office staff. When he’s not in studying or in the office, he enjoys going for runs, binge-watching his favorite shows, taking his dog for walks, and trying new foods.

Victoria Gutierrez

Victoria Gutierrez

Office Assistant

Victoria joined the Senior Helpers team at the beginning of 2021 and has been helping ever since! Victoria is very passionate when it comes to helping others and finding the right care for those who need it. When she is not working in the office, Victoria finds herself spending lots of time with friends, going for late night drives, and overall enjoying what nature has to offer.

“The best reasons to be here is... I learn so much from the elderly. I get to experience other people's problems with my eyes!! I get to be the (HELPER) because someone really needs that extra help when no one is there. Or just a person to talk to! It uplifts me for the day and makes me feel like I did a good deed in someone's life!!”
