Meet the Central Houston Office

More than 90% of seniors want to age in their own home with dignity but getting the right type of care can seem daunting.  At Senior Helpers Central Houston we believe getting the best care for your loved ones should not be complicated.  Eduardo & Valeria Visbal opened the Senior Helpers Central Houston office because of their passion for helping others and their interest in the growing need for in-home care services.  Eduardo & Valeria Visbal  are committed to delivering the best possible in-home care to seniors in the Houston community.

We take in-home care very seriously and make it a priority to provide the highest level of client service possible.  We have built an exceptional team of care professionals, each committed to remaining at the forefront of the in-home care industry through our proprietary ongoing training and education programs.

Our History

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies.  They realized that most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution. Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited. Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and affordable in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore, and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand.  Over the past 13 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers of Central Houston was proud to join the system in 2017.  Like every other owner, we too are fully-committed to the original goal of providing dependable and affordable in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.

Eduardo & Valeria were drawn to Senior Helpers because of their own experience of caring for senior members of their own families.

We have been lucky to serve hundreds of seniors in our community over the years, and we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.

Our process

Our process

The first step in the process is a complimentary, initial in-home care assessment with a Senior Helpers consultant.  This assessment can help you understand the true needs of your loved one, and your options. Together we can discuss their needs, our senior care services and determine what’s best for your entire family.

We will cover:

  • Your family's specific goals
  • Your loved one's daily plan design and schedule
  • Pricing and payment methods
  •  Implementation process
  • Ongoing communication and follow-up plan

We provide a range of services, including companion care, sitter services, light housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, medication reminders, transition assistance, respite care, and assistance with bathing, grooming, toileting and ambulation. Senior Helpers is a leader in the in-home care industry when it comes to Alzheimer’s and dementia care with the program Senior Gems®, developed with nationally renowned dementia expert Teepa Snow. We have also collaborated with staff at Johns Hopkins Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center to design a program that offers strategies and techniques for managing

All of our caregivers are Senior Helpers employees and undergo rigorous screening, background checks, drug tests and training before they come into your loved one’s home. We treat them like our family, so they can become an extension of yours. Our goal is to enrich the lives of each client, and to exceed all expectations for care. We hope you will consider contacting us to learn more about our services. We believe we can make a positive difference in your life!

Some key commitments we make, include:

We never send a stranger. In our experience, one of the most difficult aspects of being the client of a home care agency was having caregivers show up at our door without being properly introduced or prepared, or in the case of having a substitute, not getting any advance notification of a change – then dealing with substitutes who were poorly prepared to provide appropriate care for your loved one’s needs. With Senior Helpers, this will not happen. A proper introduction will be made. Caregivers are supervised employees, not independent contractors. We are not a referral service or “nurse registry,” where workers are assigned to cases, leaving families to sort through the fine points themselves – whether taxes get paid, whether background checks have been performed, whether they’re bonded and insured. We do all these things in advance, along with testing skills, verifying credentials, speaking with families they’ve worked with before.

Another way we communicate to prospective clients that we are the best choice for in-home care in the Houston area is by arranging for Listen360, an independent research company, to survey our clients- any client they wish, any time they wish.

Meet the Central Houston Team

Eduardo Visbal - Owner

Eduardo Visbal, originally from Colombia, arrived to the United States in the summer of 2006 and to Houston, TX in the  summer of 2008. A Houstonian at heart, Eduardo went to Seven Lakes High School in Katy, TX and continued his academic career at the University of Houston, Bauer College to pursue his passion in entrepreneurship at the UH Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship. He then went on to work for H-E-B support center and remained an active member in Houston local communities after obtaining his Bachelor's degree. During this time, Eduardo’s family endured a similar type of situation that Senior Helpers clients experience. His grandmother had early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and the entire family began to feel the burden. He still remembers fearing having his grandmother forget who he was like it was yesterday. The disease unfortunately progressed and she passed shortly thereafter. Eduardo’s business acumen combined with his passion for helping others, and his family’s experience with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, prepared him to provide your loved ones the utmost quality senior care for the Houston healthcare market.

Valeria Aleman

Valeria Aleman shares a similar story to her husband, Eduardo. After arriving to the United States from Venezuela, her family settled down in Houston, TX in the summer of 2007. Valeria attended Pearland High School and graduated from the University of Houston, Katherine G. McGovern College of the Arts as a skilled graphic designer. Valeria works in the training, learning and development field at Waste Management in downtown Houston, TX. She also supports the Senior Helpers office in delivering quality service and training content to our caregivers, and is an available resource at all times. Valeria’s experience and involvement does not stop there. She is also involved in the daily operations of the business. Her life since childhood has been surrounded by the elderly, starting with the fact she had the opportunity to have great grandparents, grandparents and parents to live with, care and aid for. One of her most treasured memories is bonding with her grandmother—who suffers from arthritis—by helping her knit. The memory of her joy and laughter still softens Valeria’s heart as if it was the first time. Her professional background, combined with her true compassion for people, healthcare and experience with the elderly, has formed her to bring a professional and humanitarian perspective to our home care services in central Houston.

When they aren’t working, Valeria and Eduardo love spending time with their immediate family and close friends all over the Houston area. Eduardo and Valeria’s families gravitate toward volunteering events at the Houston Food Bank, Salvation Army, and annual health fairs amongst others. A favorite activity for them is to provide meals to feed the homeless in Downtown Houston and Houston Heights area. They are also engaged in many outdoor activities and frequently visit the Memorial Hermann Park, Buffalo Bayou Park, Discovery Green, University of Houston campus, and Memorial Park.

Michelle Vicente - Office Manager

Michelle Vicente, Office Manager, is a Native Houstonian who was born and raised in the Houston International District. Michelle attended Elsik High School and Texas School of Business. You can find her around Houston’s most popular areas-such as Kemah Boardwalk, Discovery Green and Houston Zoo. She mostly enjoys spending quality time with her two children on her days off. She has over 15 years’ experience in the healthcare industry with her start in insurance and financial clearance, and ultimately moving into management. Working with Senior Helpers holds a special place in her heart, as she was the caregiver for her mother Leda who struggled with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder), CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) and Peripheral Neuropathy all while caring for her grandmother who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Soon after, she watched her father battle with colon and lung cancer, driving her to pursue health and caregiving as a lifelong goal.
